Pittsburgh Grand Prix Countryside Tour

Montse with our flight
Last July we drove out to join the Countryside Tour put on in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix.  The Grand Prix is a huge event over several days but unfortunately we had other commitments and could only make it there for the Countryside Tour.

This year, the tour began at the Century Inn in Scenery Hill, PA and ended at the Coventry Inn in Indiana, PA.  That is quite a hike out into western PA from where we live so we left the morning before and planned on spending the night at the Century Inn to be where the action was the following morning.  As luck would have it, rain followed us all the way from home until we got there but fortunately it let up shortly before pulling into the Inn and it didn't rain again for the rest of the trip.

Our flight catches a faster flight at a light

The following morning there were quite a bit of cars for the tour and we selected to go with a slow flight composed of a Healey, a TR3 and a MGA.  The flights were generally made up of four cars and were divided into fast, moderate and slow categories.  The run out to Indiana took us through some very nice back roads and very scenic terrain.  We left around 09:00 and got there at about 13:00.  If we had gone on a straight line it would not have taken half that long but the purpose of the thing was to run out and have a good time on the back roads.

Ed's car

We met a bunch of really nice people at breakfast at the Inn.  We also met a couple of the guys from the MGTDr forum.  It was great fun and could not have asked for a nicer day for a run like this.  Unfortunately, we needed to be back in Philly by evening so we left right after lunch for the long ride back home on the turnpike.

Montse behaved admirably, even in the rain on the Turnpike on the way out.  We had no issues but it sure was a major beating driving all the way there and back.  I've bought a tow bar to use on trips like this from now on.  The long distances on the interstate are just not fun at all.  We are planning on going back next year and stay for at least a couple of days to join in on the festivities.

Great Valley Baptist Church, Valley Forge, and Deer

At the Baptist Church in the Great Valley
Yesterday we took the MG out in one of our early evening spins.  Instead of heading out to the Goshen loop we took the Darby Paoli Rd route to go Valley Forge Park.  That route goes out to Church and then Waterloo following Waterloo until it merges with 252 and goes into the park.

I was very surprised to see that road conditions on Waterloo have not improved very much since the last ride we took there.  The road is still full of pot holes on torn up in several sections, especially on the return side.  I thought that by now this would have been repaired but it doesn't appear that they have done much work at all.

As we passed the Great Valley Baptist Church I made a quick decision to stop and take a couple of shot there.  I've been wanting to do that for the last 3 years and have never stopped.  Not the best or most dramatic shots ever but they will do.

From there we continued on to Valley Forge and did a couple of loops through the inner and outer defense lines.  The light was falling dramatically, especially under the canopy, and we had seen several small group of deer on the way in so I did not take the twists as hard as I would have liked for fear of having a close encounter of the deer kind.  However, it is still a nice fun drive on the MG with all the tight hair pin turns and hills to climb.

On the way back I wanted to avoid Waterloo because of the road issues so I went under 202, took the left and followed that to the West Valley Rd for another left under 202 in the opposite direction to get to Swedesford Rd.  Once there I followed it out to Walker and took that towards Old Gulph Rd.  On the way out we noticed more deer in small packs and somewhere on Walker we drove up to a doe and fawn sitting no more than 10 feet from the edge of the road.  They look at us as we slowed down and didn't even blink and eye.

Once on Old Gulph we took the left to South Wayne and took that across downtown Wayne and into the Louella neighborhood.  We followed some side roads, instead of cutting across to Conestoga, that wound us around back to 30 over by Chamonix.  From there we just took 30 to Radnor Chester Rd and Newtown Rd to home.

A great ride, specially in the park.  At this time of day there was hardly anyone else on the back roads at the park and even if I couldn't go as fast or as hard as I would have liked, it was a very enjoyable ride.  Other than the concern about keeping an eye out for deer we could not have asked for better conditions.

I made an appointment to take the MG in today for a complete check before we head out for Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix next week.

Más Mexicali Cantina

Courthouse Clock Tower from the Terrace
Despite our previous misadventure with dinner in West Chester we took a ride out there on Friday night to eat at the Más Mexicali Cantina on State Street.  We took the MG on our regular West Chester route, up Goshen/Strasburg to the Pike and then straight into town on Gay Street.  All the parking spots in the downtown area were full so we had to find alternative parking in a structure on the corner of Walnut and Chestnut.  This arrangement worked out pretty well because, as long as one doesn't stay for more than three hours, it's cheaper to park here than in the open lots.

Dinner at the Cantina was good, not the best Mexican I've ever had but not bad at all.  We sat on the terrace which is a happening spot for the younger crowd but since the weather was so good it was a shame to sit inside.  After dinner we took a walk to Gemelli for gelato, great as always and then a short passeggiata through the downtown area.

On the way back we took a short ride around the University area and then headed out Market to the Pike.  I overshot Strasburg but got on it from Ellis and then did the reverse ride home.  I am really loving the rides in the early evenings.  The weather has been great at this time of day, even when it has gotten hotter during the day, and it is really an enjoyable experience.

Alpacas Not Llamas

I guess now it's Alpaca Farm

Charlene and I went for a short ride on the MG last night shortly before 19:00.  It turned out to be wild life night or something.  We saw at least a total six ground hogs feeding along our route and a herd of deer, probably six or eight, feeding in the back pasture behind the Oreo Cow Farm.  We also saw the Oreo cows, the white goose that chased me by the red barn, and the alpacas at what I used to call Llama farm.

When we were headed out Goshen, we noticed that the herd was out close to fence on Llama Farm.  We made a quick U turn on Providence and came back to Grubbs Mill pulling over and parking across from the farm.  We were able to get up to the fence and the little beasties did not even move an inch.  On closer examination, we both realized that they were not llamas but alpacas.  They are not as large and their ears are much shorter so I guess I will have to call the place Alpaca Farm from now on.

We got some good close ups of the llamas, even the little cria which has gotten pretty big but is still not close being a tui (a yearling).  This time I was able to get his picture without the blur I had last time.  He even posed for a portrait.  From there we headed out Grubbs Mill to Warren, Providence, and Sugartown back to Goshen.  We didn't stay on Goshen long taking the short leg to Garrett Mills.  Charlene wanted to go by the red barn on Garrett Mill because we usually see a couple of little donkeys on the pasture and we wanted to get some shots of them.  Unfortunately, they were not out tonight but that white goose was there and honked at us when we passed by.  We continued across the West Chester Pike and followed 926 to Westtown Rd where we took a right.  We stayed on Westtown until we reached Five Points and followed that to the Pike.  At the Pike we made a right to Strasburg and head back towards home.  However, we did not stay on Strasburg/Goshen all the way but took the left at Duttons Mill.  This is when we saw the herd of deer in the back pasture.  Duttons Mill took us to Sugartown were we took the left for the loop to the Paoli Pike, Devon, Darby, Sugartown, and Church to home.

The moose statue on Sugartown has a garland on flowers on its antlers.  It would have been great to take a shot of that but the one thing about these country roads is that often there is no place to safely pull over and stop.  I guess we could come back with camera ready and slow down on the road if there is no one behind us.  Maybe we'll try that this weekend.

It was a perfect ride at the perfect time of the day.  The MG ran like a top and all is fine with the world.

Bishop Hollow Redoux

Ellis Preserve
After the debacle with the repair pits on Bishop Hollow/Ridley Creek Road last month a recon of the area had to be conducted.  Not having anyone to do that for me, I had to do it myself so Tuesday evening I took the Bullet out to check the road conditions.  The best plan of attack was to come at the route from the opposite direction, i.e. from 352 and Rose Tree, since that side of the road was in good repair and it did not appear like the work crews would be tearing it up.

With that in mind I headed out Goshen with the intention of catching Garrett Mill to 926 and 352.  However, traffic conditions on Goshen where great with virtually no one else on the road but me to I stayed on Goshen/Strasburg all the way out to 352.  From there I took Rose Tree Road and followed that out to Ridley Creek/Bishop Hollow.

Road conditions have improved dramatically since the last ride here.  The road crews have completed all their work and large stretches of the road are now completely resurfaced.  There are a couple of small holes here and there but nothing to create any problems.  It looks like they have been at both sides of the road and the resurfacing work has definitely improved the quality of this ride.  Time to comeback to it.

After finishing the run at the West Chester Pike I took a left there and went to the Ellis Preserve to do some figure eights and goof off in the parking lot.  By this time of the day, almost 20:00, the lot was mostly deserted so I had a chance to goof around to my heart's content.

I left the house at 18:59 with 4020.9 miles on the odo and returned at 19:59 with 4050.4 miles clocked.  Great ride all in all with the portion on Ridley Creek/Bishop Hollow yielding as much fun as the Dragon beyond Route 1, not as long but just as many twists and hills per yard.

Two Teslas today on the commute to work a black on this morning on Godfrey going in the opposite direction and a red one this afternoon on the way back from lunch turning left onto Spring Mill from 30 in front of me.  The exotic tally stands at 16 Teslas, 15 Ferraris, 11 Maseratis, 5 Bentleys, 3 Cobras, 3 McLarens,  2 Austin-Healeys, 2 Lambos, 2 Unknowns,1 Rolls Royce, and 1 DeLorean.

Second Dragon Ride

Chadds Ford
Saturday morning I left the house at 09:05 with 3926.6 miles on the odo and the intention of tackling the Dragon in both directions.

I took the standard route out with the plan of getting to State Street in Kennett Square, finding a place to turn around, and doing a reverse route back home.  This would give me the opportunity to stay on the twistiest part of the loop and ride it in both directions in quick succession.

As has been happening lately, the exact point of refuel for the Bullet had escaped my recollection so, in the mode of better safe than sorry, I planned a stop at the Sunoco in Chadds Ford.  On the way there, I noticed the lot at the Histerical Society empty so I pulled in for a couple of shots of the Bullet in that setting.  Shortly after that, I pulled into the gas station with 3946.4 miles on the odo.  The tank took 2.099 gallons of Ultra to fill.  Ultra at this station was selling at $3.099 a gallon for $6.50 total.  Since the last refuel we ranged 119.2 miles for a mileage of 56.78 mpg.  Next refuel is at 4096 miles.

From there I continued on the Dragon.  The ride on this portion was outstanding.  I am gaining a lot more confidence on the technical handling of the twists and hills and I feel that I am taking them a little more aggressively without endangering life and limb.  Once I got to the edge of Kennett Square and out from under the canopy covering, I noticed that the sky had begun to turn grey and ominous.  The forecast did not call for rain but the look of the sky was not good so I decided to pull into the taqueria on Union Street to try it out and give the weather a little time to sort itself out.

Taqueria Guadalajara Express is a typical real Mexican taqueria, almost like the taco stands on Avenida Revolución in Tijuana.  This is authentic Mexican, unlike the places that bill themselves as "Authentic" that is a code work for "stay away and don't eat here."  I had some carne asada tacos and horchata that were amazing.  I put salsa and pico from the condiment bar on the tacos and they were so spicy they made me cry.  Loved it!  I should have taken some pics of the food but it looked so good I was three quarters of the way done before I had the idea to pull out the camera.  Maybe next time.

When I left the taqueria, the sky did not look any better.  It had not gotten worse but I couldn't tell if rain was coming or not.  Rather than risk rain on the twisty portion I made the executive decision to continue on through Kennett Square back to 926 and do the complete loop rather than reverse it.  Will save that for next Friday.

The ride back was good but uneventful.  Again, no sputtering, no backfires, no stalling so the removal of the kickstand switch seems to really have made a difference.  I pulled into the strip mall on 233/202 and 926 because the "English Car" sign was still there but I could not find what that was all about.  At the end of the trip the odo read 3989 for 62.4 miles on this run.

Friday Country Run

Silver Bell Farm, Glenmoore
Friday I took the day off from work so we could take some time for a nice ride on the MG.  We left home around 11:00 and headed towards Malvern. via Goshen, Providence, and Warren, because we wanted to go back to Fat Jack's BBQ.

Fat Jack's did not disappoint the second time around.  The food was just as good as the first time proving that it was not a fluke.  We both had the burned ends sandwiches this time.  I think they were great and I enjoyed it but I am a pork guy so next time I'm going back to pork.

After lunch we headed west on 30, Charlene wanted to go to Resellers Consignment, a huge consignment shop on 30 on the edge of Frazer.  It's a huge place but the only thing I saw of interest was an old brass car horn.  They wanted $125 for it, I don't know if that's a good price or not but I just wasn't willing to pay that much for a curiosity.

We continued west on 30, the traffic in Frazer, as always, was just insane but once we cleared Frazer it all cleared out again.  We stopped at the Wawa, where the 30 bypass crosses over 30, for a frozen coffee and there decided to get off 30 and go through some back roads.  The intersection road there is Bell Tavern Road and we followed that through a subdivision and out into a wooded country lane area.  Eventually we came to Norwood Rd, took a left, and followed that to 282.  Bell Tavern, beyond 113, and Norwood Rd run through some nice shady lanes with heavy woods on both sides.  No huge twists or hills but a nice short country drive.  At 282 we made a left and that led us straight into Downingtown.  Once we got across Pennsylvania Ave 282 divides into two one way streets.  I did not notice the division and rolled right into the oncoming traffic street going in the opposite direction.  Luckily there was no one else on the road and I made it back to 30 without even noticing.  There I realized my mistake a took a right on 30 out of the one way street.  This was not accomplished without arising the ire of some passive aggressive knucklehead on a Ford F150 that could not way to point out my folly.  You know what they say in Auckem, "If they can take a joke,...

Creekside Antiques, Downingtown
In Downingtown we stopped a Creekside Antiques, on the corner of 30 and 322.  There I found a brand new Shoei bucket for a hundred bucks.  It's too bad that my grape is so huge and that the bucket was only a large because, had it fit, I would have bought it.  I don't need another bucket but a nice Shoei for that price was a steal.

After leaving the antique shop we headed up 322.  I remembered that there was another antique shop Charlene liked in that area and I was pretty sure that it was just right off 322.

Silver Bell Farm, Glenmoore
The place I was thinking about, Silver Bell Antiques, turned out to be off 322 but a little further down the road that I had figured.  At some point I thought that I was mistaken and that we should turn around but no sooner had I voiced that opinion that I could see the big white barn on the side of the road from a little rise we had just crested.

When I pulled into the parking lot a guy pulled in next to me and came over to ask me about the car.  He thought it was a TD and was very impressed when I told him it was a replica.  He had owned several British sports cars and we talked about cars for a little while before going in the shop.  Charlene and I have been in this shop before but they have made some changes, one of which is the addition of a dealer in militaria, so there was some interesting stuff for me look at.  I didn't find anything I wanted to buy but it was fun to look at the military stuff in the shop.

I picked up a map of antique shops in the area from the front desk, not so much for the shops but to get an idea of a route to take back.  We decided to continue up 322 to 82 and take that until we hit 23 for the road to Phoenixville.  The two first roads, 322 and 82, run mostly through open farm country and, for a Friday afternoon getting close to rush hour, were surprisingly free of traffic.  Ridge Road, 23, oddly enough, runs on a ridge along side a wide valley to its south through some little towns and very picturesque areas.  This is a nice ride that we will have to repeat maybe going in the opposite direction.  One of the places that we notice was the Seven Stars Inn, on the corner of Seven Stars Rd and Ridge, its a restaurant located in an homestead from the early 1700s that has been an inn or tavern since 1736.

We stopped for gas at the corner of Ridge and Pottstown Pike at a Sunoco station.  At the refuel stop we had put 129.2 miles since the last fill up and the odo read 3983 miles.  The tank took 4.686 gallons of ultra at $3.079 a gallon for a total of $14.43.  Mileage since that last refuel was 27.57 mpg.

Lazy dawg
After we got the the spot where 724 splits off from 23, on the edge of Phoenixville, we began to run into traffic.  By this time it had to have been somewhere between 17:15 and 17:30, the perfect time for congestion.  When I passed Hare Hill Rd on 23 I thought for a second of taking that down to 113 but I didn't follow up on it.  We stayed on 23 and took 113 before getting into Phoenixville following 113 until Coldstream and taking that to Charlestown Rd.  At the corner of Coldstream and Charlestown we got a little traffic and were stuck there for a couple of moment waiting for the people in front of us to make the left.  This gave us enough time to get a shot of a cute fat English Bulldog laying on his driveway, obviously waiting for his master to come home.

As we got pass the barn on Charlestown Rd two deer, a doe and buck, ran in the road in front of us.  I was able to slow down and get them both past my lane.  The doe made it all the way across the road.  Unfortunately the buck was not as lucky.  He barely got past me but the minivan in the oncoming lane was had not slowed down enough to let him pass.  I did not see the impact, just heard the sickening thud, Charlene turned around and saw it.  This is one of the most horrible things that can happen in these country lanes.  It's not the damage to the car or even the possible harm that a collision with a deer can do to the passengers and driver, it's the fear you see in their eyes as they try to clear the way when they realize they are not going to make it.  I don't like to see that, it's always very upsetting.  That little episode put a damper in what would have been a beautiful ride.

After that I just wanted to get home.  We took Yellow Spring off Charlestown to avoid 30 and stayed on that to North Valley Rd to Swedesford.  The left at Swedesford took us to 252 across 30 and down to Goshen.  We made a quick stop at the liquor store on 252 and 30 to buy some libations for a beach party we had planned for Sunday down the Shore.  The run on Yellow Spring and North Valley is also wooded and twisty and makes for a quick transition out without having to take 30, another alternative route to get out west.

Despite the incident with the deer it was a good ride.  When we left it was chilly and over cast but that cleared out fairly quickly.  Part of that has to be the geographical area where we live, it is allways chillier and wetter in our little area for some reason.  The day was never completely cloudless but the temps rose and there were clear blue patches of sky through out.  Had it not been for the deer it would have been a perfect ride.

1920s Hottie

Found in a Chadds Ford antique shop
Saturday morning we took the MG out for a long spin.  We drove about a block down the road before we realized that we were severely under-dressed for the temps so we turned around and geared up.  Not much was needed just an extra layer and gloves.  However, before we got on the road again the parking brake had shot its button off and I had to hunt for it, find it, re-install it, and then we were ready.

We headed up Goshen to Garret Mills and across the Pike for 926 with the intent of doing the Dragon.  As noted before, the road surfaces have been greatly improved so the ride is a lot smoother.  Also, I took the advice of one of my friends from the TDr Forum and lowered the air pressure on the tires from 32 psi all around to 18 psi in front and 24 psi in back.  It is amazing how much just such a simple change has improved the handling and cornering of the little beastie.
On the way out 926 we saw a sign for Thornbury Farms off New Street so on the spur of the moment we took the left onto New St and followed the signs.  It's just a short jaunt to a right fork on to Thornbury Rd and soon after that the farm stand is on the right at the top of a steep dirt driveway.  They have the usual farm stand fare and in addition the have some really good chocolate chip cookies so it is definitely a place to visit from time to time.  They also have an old truck tricked out like Tow Mater and a pretty cool old red tractor.  I also noticed a sign that said the farm was established in 1709 so if that is true, it's pretty impressive.  We got some cookies and sourdough bread and headed back to 926.

Tow Mater

Once on 926 we saw an older red Ferrari and shortly after that a gold 1950s grocery-getter with huge fins.  I did not have time to identify the make of the grocery-getteras I just caught off the corner of my eye because he honked at us.  They were both headed in the opposite direction and soon after that we made the turn onto Creek Rd.  We thought we would stop at Hank's Place and get some lunch but when we pulled in the parking lot the line was out the door so we went with plan B.

Tower and reflections - will try again soon.
We continued on Creek Road out to Kirk and made the turn to link up with 82 and ride that into Kennett Square.  This is without a doubt the best part of this loop.  With the changed tire pressures, the MG handled the twists and hills like a champ.  I used to think sometimes in the tight turns it was like driving a brick but now it really grips the road and grabs the turns in a most satisfying manner.  I slowed down on Kirk for Charlene to take a shot of the tower there but she only had time to snap through the windshield and it did not turn out really well.  I guess that is just an opportunity for a redo.

Multiple sightings Ferrari
Once in Kennet Square we saw a newer red Ferrari which we saw twice more in town.  Once when we were parking on State Street and then later when it was parked on the same street.  We stopped at the Half Moon for lunch.  We had eaten there before and liked it enough to come back.  We had a wild game sampler with buffalo, elk, and venison, alligator gumbo, and a wild mushroom plate.  It was all delicious.  The gumbo wasn't really gumbo but it was good whatever it was.

After lunch we took a little walk in the downtown area and tried La Michoacana Mexican ice cream place.  Not so much.  The chocolate ice cream wasn't very chocolaty at all, it was mostly vanilla and if I wanted vanilla I would have ordered that.  Live and learn.

Once back on the road we took Route 1 north rather than continue to 926 because we want to stop at one of the antique places along the road.  We stopped at Brandywine Rive Antiques, the first place we came upon, we have been there before and they always have some interesting things besides it is in an old barn and I love old barns. It was there that we found the photo of the flapper, or as I like to call her the 1920s hottie.  We both thought she was too cute to pass up so we bought the photo and brought it home with us.  We are framing it and putting it up on our wall somewhere.

After that we continued on 1 north until we hit Creek Rd. and took that to 926.  At the turn onto Creek Road we were passed by a metallic light blue and white stripped 1960s 'Vette.  On 926 I saw a dark grey Bentley just before getting to 352.  We took 352 to the Wawa on the West Chester Pike for a refuel and frozen coffee.  By the time we got to the Wawa we had run 142.7 miles since the last refuel and the odo read 3693.  The tank took 5.532 gallons (taking care not to over-fill) at $3.319 a gallon for a total of $18.36.  Mileage on this tank was 25.79 mpg.

From the Wawa we just headed back down Strasburg/Goshen for the ride home.  No problems, no issues, except that the gas gauge has gone out again.  Maybe this has to do with the same circuit that the horn is on but it doesn't matter, I got the trip odometer and I can figure refuels on that.  Despite the earlier chill, the weather was great and since we were mostly on shady country lanes the sun did not create a big problem.  Much fun was had by all.

The exotic tally stands at 15 Ferraris, 13 Teslas, 9 Maseratis, 4 Bentleys, 3 Cobras, 2 McLarens,  2 Austin-Healeys, 2 Lambos, 2 Unknowns,1 Rolls Royce, and 1 DeLorean.

The classic car tally is now three Nash Metropolitans, three 1950s Jags, two 1960's 'Vettes, one MGA, one Hot Rod, one 1950s Chrysler, one 1950s Oldsmobile, one 1950's Plymouth, one Karmann Ghia, one 1950s grocery-getter, and one Ford Model A.

Crum Creek at Bishop Hollow Road

Crum Creek at Bishop Hollow Road
I woke up early this morning and took advantage of that to take the Bullet out for a ride.

I had no particular flight plan in mind so I headed up Goshen to see where the road would take me.  Since it was early on a Saturday morning the road was pretty empty and it promised to be a good ride.  Shortly after passing Grubbs Mill Road I noticed a garbage truck out in front of my and I new I did not want to be stuck behind it.  When we reached Providence Rd the truck continued on Goshen and I made a right to avoid it.  There was some activity at the Radnor Hunt Club, it looked that they were setting up for some event but that did not affect the ride.  I continued on to Sugartown and then back to Goshen.

3403.0 at fuel up
From there I continued on up Goshen and I noticed that the odo was getting close to 3402.  I could not remember the last time I fueled up but I did remember having fueled up at 3202 so, as a matter of caution, I took the left at 352 and went to the Wawa.  It turned out that I had only burned .954 gallons since the last fuel up and covered 53.6 miles.  That is 56.18 mpg on this tank, the gas was at $3.279 a gallon, and the refuel cost $3.13.

From there I headed up 352 to Rose Tree Road and followed that to where it meets the end of Bishop Hollow.  That old beat-up  50s Chrysler is still sitting in that yard.  Thought about stopping and getting a photo but by that time I was quite a bit down the road.  I did stop where Bishop Hollow crosses over Crum Creek and got some shots there.

From there I continued on Bishop Hollow and across the West Chester Pike for home.

Bishop Hollow Road in this direction is really good, it mostly climbs from 352 to the Pike and the twists are really noticeable.  This is a ride that I will re-do many times and I know I have to go back to get that photo of the Chrysler.

I left the house at 07:18 with 3381.4 on the odo and returned an hour later with 3420.5 for 39.1 miles on this trip.

Carlisle Prep and Other Adventures

Beauty shot
After a dreary an overcast Saturday morning the afternoon cleared and it was time to get the MG ready for Carlisle.  This was a top to bottom Spring cleaning including the engine.  The whole process started with engine de-greasing and cleaning using Gunk de-greaser and protector.  The de-greasing was easy to do, just remove the air filter, cover the carburetor and distributor cap with plastic bags, spray the Gunk, let it sit for 15 minutes, and hose away.  After applying the protector the engine looked better than I've ever seen it, not pretty but still better.

Then it was the vacuum, wash and wax route, followed by Armor All on the leather and vinyl.  I did not undo the top for this but if we end up going to Carlisle I may have to because the forecast calls for rain on Saturday.  I'll worry about it then.

After I was done with the clean up I wanted to take it out for a spin.  Charlene suggested that we shrink wrap it, put it in a plastic bubble, and push it back in the garage but that might have just been a little ridiculous.  We rolled at around 18:00 with no particular flight plan in mind be we had to stop at the PetSmart to buy His Imperial Highness some food since he was almost running out.  We headed out Malin to the West Chester Pike via James and Ann St.

When we got to the PetSmart I was feeling a little queasy.  I attributed that to the smell of fuel which was still in the car from the leak the previous day.  However when we left the store I was not feeling better and I suggested just going back home.

It all went downhill from there.  On the way back I began losing everything I'd eaten since the night before.  This all happened while moving down the road and projectile vomiting over the side of the car.  Of course, it got all over the running board and the driver's door ruining all the work of the afternoon.  I don't know why I didn't just pull over and get out of the car but when I get sick I lose all ability to reason.  I'm sure it was sight to see.

The vomiting continued for the next two days with other interesting side effects which made me think I might had gotten food poisoning during our jaunt the night before.  Charlene had it as well but not nearly as badly as I did so now we are both pretty puny and might to be going to Carlisle if thing don't improve by tomorrow.  I feel much better now, well enough to go to work, but we'll see how tomorrow turns up.

In the mean time, some more beauty shots of the MG with a cool New Bug in the background.  I liked the juxtaposition of those elements.
